Jun-27-04  dragon40: <ketchuplover> Good philosophy, but poor chances against Mickey..I still think his coice of openings was his prelude to a bad game.
Jun-27-04  duboy77: doubling the rooks with a gpawn push?
Jun-27-04  acirce: Game drawn. Nothing to do anyway.

ray keene: good simple follow up moves for white are f3 and bf2 -g3-on the one hand trading rooks and on the other sniping at pc7.
Jun-27-04  PaulMorphy666: Rook e6 ?! Sligtly :)) Nakamura OUT!!
Jun-27-04  zwischenzug: game drawn
Jun-27-04  peterk007: <acirce> what can I say, even Naka agrees with you.

ketchuplover: sorry if i got carried away there. the point I was trying to make is that HN has nothing to lose by going for the throat-figuratively.

chessgames.com: That's it folks, 1/2-1/2. Adams progresses to the next round.

Thanks to everybody for stopping in today, and special thanks to our special guest grandmaster Ray Keene for coming by. We'll get the other games from this round online as soon as the round is over.

Jun-27-04  azaris: Topalov launching a pawn storm against Kozul - should be good.

tpstar: Hello, all. Fascinating game, and even more fascinating commentary, just like yesterday. Does anyone know the story behind Adams' flag = white with red cross stripes, not the Union Jack?

ray keene: i believe white is much better when the draw was agreed-good to see spider go thru-makes up for short and the football.
Jun-27-04  acirce: If Nakamura is so underrated he certainly didn't show it in this match.
Jun-27-04  acirce: <Does anyone know the story behind Adams' flag = white with red cross stripes, not the Union Jack?> That sounds like the flag of England as opposed to the flag of Great Britain.
Jun-27-04  Hanada: Does anyone know where other games may be watched?
Jun-27-04  acirce: http://wcclibya2004.com/round.asp or http://www.chessclub.com/
Jun-27-04  dragon40: Wow Draw in 21 moves and I was guessing 22 moves :) Im very glad for Mickey to go to the next stage!! Should be a great match regardless of who he plays!
Jun-27-04  acirce: He'll play the winner of Krasenkow and Akopian.
Jun-27-04  biglo: <airce>
Technically the Union Flag is the flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as it embodies the St Patrick's Cross - the red X
Jun-27-04  zwischenzug: Naka now pockets 22 grands & Adams 32 grands.

ray keene: acirce-cross of st george -widely used when england plays separately from the uk.you see it all over now during the football euro teams tho its a bit late to fly it after we lost to portugal.
Jun-27-04  WMD: England's flag is known as St.George's. http://flagspot.net/flags/gb-eng.html

ray keene: i am sorry-i dont think biglos flag explanation makes any sense at all-i repeat the red cross is the cross of st george the patron saint of england!
