Mar-19-06  Cogano: If everyone will forgive my ignorance & forgive me for being so dense, why did Black resign? Yes I know that White had a pawn majority. But Black continued playing the game since the move when White established that majority. So why not continue? Thanks all. Take very good care all & have a great day. Cheers to all! :)
Mar-19-06  nescio: <Cogano> In fact Black was probably lost after he had to concede a second pawn, but he played on hoping for a miracle. Have we not all done that? It was justified because he had some compensation in the bishop pair, but now he has to give it up, or lose a third pawn after 46...Bh5 47.Nf5, so he saw no reason to continue. Thanks for all the best wishes, and the same to you.
Mar-19-06  Cogano: Hello <nescio> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. Thank you kindly for taking the time to point that out. I wonder if you'd be a bit more patient to explain something else for me. How is Black going to lose one of those bishops or a 3rd pawn? Black can play 46...Bh5 & both of his pawns are protected. As for the well wishes, they're sincere & don't mention it. Thanks much again for your help & your anticipated patience, tolerance, understanding, consideration & assistance. Take very good care & have a great day & enjoy what's left of your weekend too. Cheers mate! :)

P.S. Am I mistaken in my assumption that you are male as I am, juding by your username? Thanks. :)

Mar-19-06  nescio: <Cogano: How is Black going to lose one of those bishops or a 3rd pawn? Black can play 46...Bh5 & both of his pawns are protected.>

Yes, but after 46...Bh5 47.Nf5 Black has no means to keep his bishop pair and protect the g7-pawn at the same time. In fact, the pawn cannot be protected at all any longer and will fall victim to one of the knights at the next move. 47...g6 loses of course the bishop on h6.

<P.S. Am I mistaken in my assumption that you are male as I am, juding by your username?>

No, I am indeed a man. Is it important?

Mar-19-06  Cogano: Hello again <nescio> & I sincerely hope this finds you well. Thank you kindly for taking more time still to point that out. I wonder why I missed that. Black indeed can't stop White from grabbing the pawn, or else he loses a pawn AND a bishop for the knight!

As for you being a man, no it's not important. I just like to know the gender of the person I'm communicating with. It feels more comfortable because rightly or wrongly I use my real life interactions as a basis for my online ones & that creates expectations & needs that affect my actions & conduct here. I can obviously see the people I talk to in real life, & thus their gender. But, online, I need a sure cue to clearly indicate a person's gender. Thanks again for all your time & help. Take very good care & have a great day. Cheers mate! :)
