Nov-19-04  Jaymthegenius: What a sweet game! Greco sure knew how to force mate pretty well! There have been games in which I have failed to see mate in 2 and even 1!!! I am not familiar with the giuco piano, but Greco was clearly a complete expert on it.
Apr-17-06  SJP: 17...Kc5 18. b4+ Kc4 19. a4 (threat 20. Qb5+ Kb3 21. Ra3+ Kc2 22. Qe2#) c6 20. Qh5 (threat 21. Qe2+ Kb3 22. Ra3#) 1-0
Apr-17-06  SJP: If 19...Nc6, 20. Qh5 Nd4 21. cxd4 Kxd4 22. Qd5#, again mating on the 22nd move.
Sep-27-07  wolfmaster: What's the continuation after 15...Ke8? I don't see anything that's completely convincing.
Jan-28-08  wolfmaster: Idiot me, 15...Ke8 is illegal!
Feb-16-18  RKnight: <wolfmaster> should have asked "What's the continuation after 15..Kd8?" NN averts disaster, but has an inferior cramped position with rather even material (N for 3P's).

kingscrusher: Greco has systematically covered all King moves with other "games" :

Kd8 covered here (this game!):
Greco vs NN, 1620

Kf8 covered here:
Greco vs NN, 1620

also here:
Greco vs NN, 1623

Kd7 covered here:
Greco vs NN, 1620

"NN" seemed particularly helpful in getting more complete coverage of this Qe7 line. The thing is Bg5 is not entirely great if black delays g5 with moves like a6 and crucially h5 first to cover the h5 square.

In any case, it is amazing that such an exploration was done in 1630 :)

The use of NN's to create what seems to be fictional games, does seem like a clever narrative device to make analysis come to life and each line can be scrutinised separately but the general public.
