May-09-10  Sem: After 8. ... Bxf2+ the game plays itself. Hats off again to Mr Gedult.

Phony Benoni: The Immortal Guardian Angel Game. Three times, Black's knights capture pawns and leave themselves <en prise>, but they can't be taken because the queen is covering them by giving check.
Jul-11-13  PhilFeeley: Mato Jelic covers this game very well:

Jan-31-14  EvanTheTerrible: Funny king chase.

  al wazir: Or 13...Bd7+ 14. Bc6 Bxc6+ 15. Ka5 b6#, putting white out of his/her misery one move sooner.

FSR: Gedult was a genius of coffehouse chess. Weird, I was just looking at this game two days ago. Not my pun, though.

FSR: Incidentally, the way Gedult mated was by no means the fastest. 10...Qf2+ 11.Kd3 (11.Kxe4 Bf5#) Qd4+ 12.Ke2 Bg4+ 13.Ke1 Qf2# was three moves quicker, and I see that <al wazir> has already pointed out 13...Bd7+ 14.Bc6 Bxc6+ 15.Ka5 b6#. The way Gedult did it was a lot prettier, to be sure.
Jan-31-14  Cheapo by the Dozen: <al wazir>,

I guess we can say that Gedult had patience. :)

offramp: What does the GoTD title mean? Is it based on Adult Swim? If so, what is an adult swim?

FSR: <offramp> Public swimming pools often have time periods set aside for "adult swim" when only persons above a certain age are allowed to swim, so adults can swim laps and such without being disturbed by little kids jumping around. "Adult Swim" is also an American cable network that I'd never heard of before just now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adult... A pretty silly pun.
Jan-31-14  morfishine: "Pole Dancing"
Jan-31-14  sfm: You need a bit more than average optimism to think you will survive 8.Nxh8.
Jan-31-14  pedro99: Judging by the opening the date should read 1794
Jan-31-14  TheTamale: <offramp>: The Cartoon Network, generally a channel for kids, refers to its nighttime programming as "Adult Swim." I figure it's got to be that.
Jan-31-14  Castleinthesky: How about: "Gedult Gefish" ?
Jan-31-14  Ferro: Borracho?
Jan-31-14  kevin86: White attacks-goes after the rook;black counter-attacks,goes after the king. Then he chases the king from hell to breakfast and snares him.
Jan-31-14  Ferro: Carl fischer?
Jan-31-14  Ferro: Didn't we almost having all
Jan-31-14  fishcat: 7.Nf7 8.Nxh8 9.Kxf2 and Black can mate in 5, but he draws it out a bit so White can contemplate the meaning of greed. A nice demonstration.

  Domdaniel: Gedulterated!
Jan-31-14  abstraction: or.. "gedult entertainment"?
Feb-10-14  Calli: The black queen strayed from her own king and mated the White king. A clear case of Gedultery.
