Phony Benoni: The first game in Thomas' great performance at Hastings 1934/35, and a sign of his good form. The pawn sacrifice f4-f5 in the Closed Sicilian is well known today, and Thomas pursues the attack with vigor.

24.Nh6 is a nice shot, planning 24...Rxh6 25.Rxf7+ Bxf7 26. Qxh6+ Ng7 (either king move allows 27.Rxf7, with or without check, and quick mate) 27.Bd5 followed by gloom, despair, and agony.

Perhaps might have done better to run with the king immediately instead of trading with 25...Bxg4. Once White nailed the exit shut with 27.Bc6, the rest was target practice.
