Here Larsen played 29...Nh4+. Reshevsky played 30.Kf1, and Larsen retreated his attacked knight with 30...Ng6. A draw was then agreed.

But 30.Kf1 leaves h3 unprotected. 30....Qf5! might have caused problems.

It's a move that really shows what "light-square weakness" means, because it is white's rooks that are in trouble as well as the king and the h-pawn - and the h1 square ...

Mar-29-20  sneaky pete: In 1964 FIDE didn't allow draws by agreement unless at least 30 moves had been played. Of course players still found ways to a premature draw if they felt like doing so. That's what apparently happened here.

In his column in a Dutch newspaper, reprinted (in translation) in the August 1964 issue of the Deutsche Schachzeitung, Donner wrote that, with both players in time trouble, after 28... Nxf5 Reshevsky proposed a draw.

Larsen accepted the draw offer, but reminded his opponent of the 30 moves rule. So 2 more moves were made, with Reshevsky not bothering to make good moves.
