Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-23-04  drukenknight: another Nimzo indian for Nov. White does a K walk so black does a K walk too. I think Khan misses a positional problem, having a pawn on the 6th ranking blocking in a pawn is surely a problem. He needed to play b6 at some pt.
Apr-20-06  JohnBoy: Easier said than done, <drunken>. Where do you suggest such? Winter comceives of a great way to get his pawn to the 8th, and Khan's king walk is desperation.

This game had been mis-labeled, so I fixed the date, round and site fields.

This was round 5 of the 26th British Chess Federation championship, held in Hastings, England 31 July - 11 August.

  MissScarlett: There are those who believe the act of correction is more important than the correction itself. In which case, you need to specify the substance of the correction. Then, perhaps, ponder on the source of the misattribution.

  jessicafischerqueen:

<MissScarlett> good ideas thanks brah.

Before I made the correction this game had:

Event tag [Hastings 1932/33]

Site tag [Hastings ENG]

Date information [Year 1933] [Month 01] I don't remember the day and round tags now.

I should have written all that down and posted it here before making the correction eh.

=========

Likely cause of the initial mistake: uploader mixed up two similarly named tournaments that occurred partially within the same year.

1. Mistaken tournament would be

<13th Hastings Premier 1932/33 > Dec 1932 - Jan 1933

https://www.saund.co.uk/britbase/pg...

Sultan Khan played in this tournament, but not William Winter.

===========

As mentioned in previous post, this is the actual Hastings tournament in which William Winter played White against Sultan Khan, winning in 48 movies:

<26th British Chess Championship> 31 July - 11 August 1933 (Also held in Hastings, ENG)

May-18-23  DanLanglois: A fascinating game already, before we get to the moves, because it's one of two victorys that William Winter had over Sultan Kahn. It so happens that these are two of my favorite players -- they stand out as clear 'types', where Sultan Kahn is a sort of genius intuitive player like maybe we think of Capablanca as being, and Winter is a guy who plays like Tal. Those are two other of my favorite players.
