Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-17-05  Brown: Yikes, more combo's in one game than I've played in my lifetime
Jul-17-05  farrooj: Nice game, f4 was probably wrong. It weakens the whole kingside, When you have played h3, you shouldn't move the other shield pawns, unless some of the pieces are exchanged and there is no more pressure. When you play f4 and h3 there is a huge hole on g3
May-07-12  qqdos: Becker was already losing this game by move 23 or so and 28.Qd3?? was the culminating blunder (better but not much 28.Bd3). Apparently Spielmann was short of time at this point so he faffed about with repetitions and then found a slow route - 31...Ne3 wasn't the best, with 31...Nh5 being more direct. What Spielmann missed was the stone-cold winning shot 28...Re6!! 29.Bxf6 (only move) Rxf6 with ...Rh6+ unstoppable. So difficult to see that Spielmann, when later he came to analyze this game in some depth in his iconic primer Art of Sacrifice, completely overlooked 28...Re6!! <source - Neil McDonald's 2006 book Rudolf Spielmann: Master of Invention>
