Kibitzer's Corner
May-16-11  YoungEd: Black's play makes this rare opening seem perfectly reasonable!
Sep-12-17  sneaky pete: I would rather say that white's mistakes make this defence seem playable. It's true that 31... Qd3 is a good move that saves the game, but black got more than he deserved.

Rossolimo first blundered with 37.Rf2 .. (instead of going for perpetual check) and then, after black's inaccurate 41th move gave him a second chance, he blundered again by not showing up after adjournment and losing on time. It's not clear from the tournament book whether 41... Kf8 was played on the board in the first session or was the sealed move, but in any case white will play 42.Qh8+ ..

After 42... Ke7 43.Qg7+ .. white has perpetual check. Black must play 42... Kf7 43.Qh7+ Kf6 and the King escapes (Kf6-g5-f4-e3xd4-e3-f4 and then after Qb8+ Re5). But after 42... Kf7 white can claim a draw because 43.Qh7+ .. would be a threefold repetition.
