<23.Rae1 or <23.Ra4>> ??

Sep-28-08  vonKrolock: This version seems more logical - the move is a direct attack and the suggestion that the ♘ at 'e4' is pinned when white play 24.♗c3 is strong- also, one of the online databases (NIC) presents only the present version with 23.♖ae1 - my computer also inclinates itself to this move by almost a ♙ plus a 1/2 ♙...
Sep-29-08  whiteshark: <vonKrolock> Yes, 23.Rae1 with 23...Ne4 24.Bc3 looks consistent/logical. However three databases

- chesslive.de,

- 365chess.com http://www.365chess.com/search_resu...

- and RUSBASE http://www.geocities.com/al2055urs/...

have --> 23.Ra4.

Pending / still ∞

Aug-19-19  whiteshark: A [REPOST] of me from a duplicate game dd Sep-28-08:

<16...Qb6> was premature. The position needs other/further developing moves, e.g. - 16...e4 17.Be2 Be6 18.Bg5 Rc8 or

- 16....Bf5 17.Bxf5 gxf5 or

- 16...Le6 17.Bg5 e4 18.Be2 Qb6

Aug-19-19  whiteshark: No news for almost 11 years.

My SF (32 ply) has <23.Rae1> as best move (~ +13) whereas 23.Ra4 is only 9th best with +6.6

I tend to regard the worse move as an typo and then as a cloning error. But you need an original source here to correct this error.
