Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-31-10  jerseybob: White's first mistake is 10.Bxf4? and after d5! white's suddenly in a little trouble. 10.gf was the way, denying e5 to black pieces. The trouble is compounded by 11.Nb5?!, looking to plant the knight on either c7 or d6. But after Larsen's 11..Bg4, what good would that do? 11.Nc2 was relatively better, though white's game still has problems.
Dec-31-10  jerseybob: And let me add this to the comments above: Instead of 9.Na3, 9.f5!? might've been interesting, with the idea of after 9..gxf5!? 10.Nh4, an idea that can crop up in the Closed Sicilian, though it may not be as strong here. But maybe worth a try OTB.

perfidious: Morovic could simply have played 7.Nc3, which transposes to a well-known variation of the Closed Sicilian (1.e4 c5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.g3 g6 4.Bg2 Bg7 5.d3 d6 6.f4 e5) known to be good for White, though he's given up the option of Nh3.
Jan-15-11  jerseybob: Right, but the move order tells me he didn't have a Closed Sicilian proper in mind.
