Kibitzer's Corner
May-24-08  vintage geisha: This game is in Edward Lasker's Chess Strategy, but it given with an alternate ending. Does anyone know if this is the real game??

May-24-08  sneaky pete: <vintage geisha> This is the score as given in the second, corrected ("durchgesehene und verbesserte") edition of the tournament book from 1919. Maybe this game had an error in the game score in 1911 edition and Edward Lasker used that first edition.

To further confuse the matter, this database has an alternate score (4.Nc3 Nf6 5.d3 exd3 6.Qxd3 ..) which is certainly incorrect.

May-26-08  vintage geisha: <sneaky pete> thanks, that helps a lot. This score makes a whole lot more sense. I was just wondering, since the score I have ended in what I assumed was a draw, but was noted as a win for marshall. Danke!
May-24-15  mikrohaus: <vintage geisha> I have the 1915 (2nd) ed. and the score is the same as here. Eduard ran with all the best players at that time and played in lots of the top tournaments; so, I assume some master, maybe even Burn, let him know about the inaccurate score from the 1st ed. and he fixed it.
May-24-15  mikrohaus: I meant Marshall, not Burn. Burn's game against Tartakower (Brilliancy Game) is the one right before it in the book.
