  MissScarlett: Bell's Life in London, August 31st 1851, p.8:

<We need not inform our readers that the celebrated Russian Chess Player, Major Jaenisch, has come to London to see the Exhibition, and shake hands with his Chess friends. The following is the first game he played here. [...]

Had certain of our poetical contemporaries recorded this game, Jaenisch would doubtless go down to posterity as the "great conqueror of Mongredien, and chief of -- the ivory handled umbrella." The mate would also have been described as given in the "cloud compelling style.">

The mate must be the missed one (26. Nc5+ Ke5 27. Qe4#) pointed out by Walker.
