Oct-07-13 | | MarkFinan: <TheFocus: The above list was not posted by me but by a member of my household. A jokester.> How you can laugh at AJ's tales and then come here saying crap that's even harder to believe, I do not know. And if Lamont isn't mentally ill then why did he get "his nurse" to come here announcing his death?? No mercy no quarter (whatever that's supposed to mean!?) for you little wimp. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: I also find it difficult to believe that someone in your own home posted a link - or anything else - (that you had no knowledge of) ... that sounds so absurd so as to be impossible! |
|
Oct-07-13 | | Jim Bartle: I also find this difficult to believe (posted on your player page): <A lady - and her son, who plays chess - sent me an e-mail. They love my new web page, http://www.ajschess.com/lifemastera..., saying that: "I hit this one out of the ballpark."> They actually wrote, "I hit this one out of the ballpark"? What sense does that make? |
|
Oct-07-13 | | john barleycorn: I love that page, too. < hmmmm. Many experts question this. I give two exclams (maybe !!!) for "how not to do it"> |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: Does anyone know of any archive for the main New Orleans newspaper? (The Delta?) |
|
Oct-07-13
 | | jnpope: Known holdings for the New Orleans Sunday Delta:
http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/l...I don't know of any online sources that have a complete record. You may want to check with the Cleveland Public Library, John G. White collection, and see if they have a scrapbook of the New Orleans Sunday Delta. If they do they may have it archived to microfilm and for sale through their duplications department. |
|
Oct-07-13 | | Robed.Bishop: I might be mistaken, but I think in 1858 it was called the New Orleans Daily Delta. |
|
Oct-07-13
 | | jnpope: There was a daily Delta which was published during the week (no chess column). The weekly Sunday Delta contained the chess column. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: Thanks for the info.
I have written several sources ... but not the JGW. (But that is a VERY GOOD suggestion, it may be the only place where those records might still be available.) |
|
Oct-08-13 | | MarkFinan: Just been through this game and 18.Rf3 seemed the natural move, and I thought that before I let the engine look at it. Also 10...kh8 seemed a luxury move, but saying that, poor NN was already getting thrashed by move 6 anyway. ✌ |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: BTW, I spent 2-3 days on the above, I thought it would make an interesting counterpoint/supplement to my web page ... I think its also amazing that even the computers only find one real improvement on this masterpiece that was played so long ago. (1858, 100 years before I was born!) |
|
Oct-10-13 | | Robed.Bishop: <AJ: I think its also amazing that even the computers only find one real improvement on this masterpiece...> Well then one of them had to be using a computer to cheat... |
|
Oct-10-13 | | fkahlo: This is i think one of Morphy free games

Sep-11-20 | | paulmorphy1969: From my research NN is Paul Ross ,

The score (moves) differ from <CG> here and there... |

Jul-28-22 | | boohoo bear: <fred> - the bulk of us folksy bears remain unconvinced of your chess skills - but we will note that you copy-and-paste with abandon. Now about your opinions on chess research - well, I think saying it's about AJ level is about right. |

Jul-28-22
 | | perfidious: While <AJ> is a liar and a thief, he possesses considerable skill at chess--which <fredthebore> very clearly does not, all while donning this nescience like a badge of honour. |
|
Jul-28-22 | | boohoo bear: <perf> I thought most of <AJ>'s stuff was analyzing games. Did he do anything good with history research? I'd be interested. * * * * *
Whereas us bears are normally rather friendly, when left alone, some bad apples insist on dumpster-diving, time after time. Eating the fermented fruit and other sugar laden refuse leads to bad blood in the brain. It's not the finest moment to see a drunken bear stumbled about in the trash heaps. . |

 | | perfidious: <zed>, do not recall anything on the history end, but was less impressed than most, come to his game analyses, given his proclamations of devoting masses of hours to them. |
