  Phony Benoni: You could have won a few ChessBucks betting on Johner to win this game. Coming in, he had scored only 1 draw in 12 games, while Vidmar was tied for second at 8-3 (plus a bye).

To me, this looks like one of those Spanishes where White does nothing but keep up a bit of pressure and Black does nothing until eventually a decisive shot pops up (50.Nxc5). Perhaps 18...f5 was not a good idea if Black was unwilling to recapture with the g-pawn. As a result, Black just ceded the e4 square and White made the most of it.

The last ten moves are either momentum, a lack of respect, or a desire to prevent chessgames.com kibitzers from asking why Black resigned, a goal which Vidmar seems to have achieved--so far.
