Aug-10-06  paladin at large: Nimzo went into the ending in good shape, and then bombed. Why didn't he play 32.....Bxd5? ("A white pawn is coming.....run!!") and then, 37. ....Bg2+ is just horrible.

Aug-10-06  alaTurca: If 32. ... Bxd5 then comes 33. Bc5+ and the rook is gone.
Aug-10-06  paladin at large: <alaTurca> right- thanks.
Feb-03-10  Rama: Black's opening play is not so good either. Why 5. ... gxf6? Why 7. ... e6? And then, it must've been games like this which brought about the chapter on The Two Bishops in "My System" -- he realized too late that 36. ... Bxc5, loses a piece to a series of Bishop-checks.
Feb-03-12  RookFile: Nimzo played right into Leonhardt's hands by playing for the queen exchange. Leonhardt appeared to be very strong in this sort of a game.

  beatgiant: Looks to me like <17...a5> hangs a pawn, because <19...Kxd6? 20. Bf4+ e5 21. dxe5 fxe5 22. Bg5> threatening 23. Rd1+ etc. winning material.

How about <17...Nd6> instead?

Feb-03-12  King Death: < Rama: Black's opening play is not so good either. Why 5. ... gxf6?..>

There's nothing wrong with 5...gf though it's never been as popular at the highest levels as lines like 4...Bf5 or 4...Nd7.

Feb-03-12  King Death: < RookFile: Um, this is probably a good point to mention that White captured a piece on his 5th move, and it would be a good idea for black to recapture...>
