concerning 42.e5
It was more like 2.8 at higher ply, and into the 3's above 40 ply.

39. ..Bg2 is surprisingly poor. The bishop was better on h3 where it had an eye on, and some control of e6. The eval was perfectly even until Bg2, which ironically appears to be the game loser

sakredkow: Superficially 41...Bg2 looks like white's losing a pawn I guess but the consequences of 42. e5 are devastating. Up until that point maybe Fabi could have held? Fabi's played some five Ragozin's in classical and this is his first loss (he's lost a couple in faster times). I wonder if he'll stick with it or take it to the junk pile.

PawnSac: yea, superficially.. but it's sort of counter intuitive. i don't know how Fabi would assess his Rogozin, but it's not his opening choice that was wrong. In any event, Vlad has played fairly well in this event. I didn't check to see if he was low on time at this point, but either way.. it's an understandable goof. As I said, counter intuitive. One slip and miss Bxd5, and it's over.
