offramp: I wonder if Bodhana Sivanandan dislikes Williams.
Aug-03-24  whiteshark: I rather wonder when Black first thought about giving up?

Check It Out: She's only 9, so there's that.

perfidious: We have a kibitzer who would doubtless have played this to mate on the following move.

Sally Simpson: The lass often plays on till she is checkmated. See https://www.chessgames.com/perl/che... Practically every loss ends in checkmate.

A lot of junior players play on till mate, in a way it's a good sign, 'OK I'm lost, so lets go for a stalemate.' Resigning is giving up all hope and a large dollop of optimism in one's play does not do any harm.

A good player here and she it is getting loads of experience in a very short time. She is also playing for the English Female team in the Olympiad.

Aug-04-24  whiteshark: Me neither. Tks <CIO> - that makes the situation appear in a completely different light.

Check It Out: When I play a game with my wife, who if I had to guess would be in the 400-600 rating zone with with Tal-like flashes of sacrificial brilliance, she always wants to play out to mate (no jokes, please ;) because she wants to understand why her completely lost position is lost, and how the game should technically end.
