Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-28-24  ultrausurper: Keymer played 44...Ke4?? and likely had calculated up to 50.c7 and concluded that he was winning.

But even though white appears to be a tempo too slow for promotion, amazingly, black has no way to stop the pawn because white controls b5.

Instead, 44...Kg4!! was the winning move. Black queens and sacs the queen for the c pawn and then wins white's h pawns and promotes the g pawn.

Mar-28-24  Cassandro: Seems like young Vincent needs to work on his endgame skills. A somewhat neglected topic of study even among the elite GMs, at times.
May-01-24  James J. Henderson: Interesting endgame. The losing move (or what should have been the losing move) was 34.g4. On move 34, according to the engines, any legal king move, any legal bishop move except the one that hangs the bishop, and the pawn moves g3, h3, and h4 all draw. Apparently the problem with 34.g4 is that, in some lines, White loses control of the f4 square and the Black king can invade. For example, after 34.g4 Nd5 35.Bb1 e4 36.Bxe4 Ke5! 37.Bc2, Black has one winning move: 37...Kf4. The same line starting from 34.g3 is a draw.
