keypusher: Another game in which A0 sacrifices three pawns. It would be interesting to know how many moves were given to the machines at the beginning. The first new move according to this database is 13...c5. 18.bxc4 seems a bizarre choice but is also chosen by SF on my desktop; 18.dxc4 Qe5 19.g3 Qf5 20.Bb2 Be5 21.Qe2 Qh3 22.Qf1 Qh5 23.Qd1 Bf3 24.Qf1 0.00 is what my SF comes up with after 15 minutes. I wonder if this is what A0 would have done with Black. The main idea of 18.bxc4 seems to be to control e4 for the knight.

A0 plays with its wonted nonchalance while down material (22....h6) and my SF's initial evaluation after 24....Ra8 is about +1.5.

Within a couple of minutes the eval has dropped to 0.00, and after 10 minutes it's -1.18 (25.Nb5 Bf3 26.g3 Ra6 27.Kg2 Rg6 28.Re1 Bc6 29.Re4 Bxe4 30.dxe4 Qf3 31.gxf4 Qxf4+ 32.Kh1 Qf3+ 33.Kh2). By 16 minutes it's below -2 and continues to fall slowly thereafter (25.Nb5 Bf3 26.g3 Ra6 27.Kh2 Rg6 28.Ba5 Qh4 29.Qe1 Kh7 30.Rb1 Rg5 31.Bd8 f6 32.Bxf6 gxf6 33.Qe7+ Rg7 34.Qe1 Qg5 35.Rb3 Bxd2, etc.). After 25:42 (depth 45/73, 3341 MN, -2.64) my SF switches its first choice to 25.Qd1 as in the game. I wonder how much time the SF used in the match took on the 25th move.

keypusher: Incidentally the SF annotation of this game is too shallow to be of much use — the 21-ply search at move 25 in particular.

(Ra6 a4 Rg6 Qg2 Qxh3 Qxg6 fxg6 and white has a nice passed pawn on the A file. My suggestion would have be 25.Nb5? g5! (with the idea of g4, gxh3 and Qg6+), and if white tries 26.Qe1 g4 27.Qe7 gxh3 28.Qf6 then I think simply Kf8 and there are no more tricks.. but I probably missed something.
