Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-19-07  kingsindian2006: this is the best castle ive seen in a long time.. surprisingly tight game played after losing a queen
Jun-19-07  Giordanoted: Heaven knows if I understand anything of Nisipeanu's opening. Following the game I thought he had some hidden plan, ready to unleash it at some point. The hidden plan was giving away his Queen but, not being Bobby Fischer (and maybe Ivanchuk not that Byrne of that famous game), he lost.
Jun-19-07  tal lover: I think that Nisipeanu played this game very well, he blundered in the opening but he could recover and almost draw the game, probably he missed a draw in some point of the end
Jun-20-07  somitra: 10... Nxe4 ?
What on earth did Nisi want to do with the Queen sacrifice ?

10... Be7 11.exf6 gxf6 12.Bh4 Ne5 13.Qc2 d3 14. Qc3 would have been better. Nisi was not looking good in the first 7-8 moves itself, but this move may have cost him the game.

Aug-04-07  Mameluk: God bless all who think Nxe4 was a blunder.
Aug-07-07  hubbledeep: Aug-06-07 hubbledeep: Hi, Just joined the group and want to comment on the recent Ivanchuk-Nisipeanu game. Perhaps on move 10..... Ne5 11Qxb4 a5
12Qa3 Nd3*
13B*d3 c*d3
14Q*d3 Ba4
15Rd2 Qc7*
or other possibilities... white's king is rather exposed.. I had played Nisipeanu some time ago on Yahoo Chess. Of course he beat me but was kind enough to spend some time in conversation before my old computer lost connection.
Aug-08-07  ARival: <hubbledeep> 10. ...Nxe5 11.Qxb4 a5 12.Nd6+ [instead of 12.Qa3]Kf8 [if ...Ke7 13.Nf5+ Ke8 14.Nxg7#]13.Qc5 might be OK for White.
Aug-08-07  hubbledeep: <ARival> Didn't consider the N check on d6, nice continuation.. I suppose Nisipeanu saw all this tho. Did you check out his 2007 Sofia Mtel Masters 8th round best game prize brilliancy, Nisipeanu-Adams? That impressed me.
Jul-28-08  Helloween: 10...Nxe4!? is a move I've been waiting to play OTB for years. I came across it years ago studying this opening. I'm glad it has finally been played at top level(was first played years ago in a junior game). 12...Bd2+! is forced. The basic idea for Black is to get counterplay against the White King on the c and d-files, while retaining strong drawing chances because of fortresses that exist w/ Rook and Minor Piece in the endgame.
