Feb-26-07  think: It looks like White messed up around move 17 when black posted his knight on d3, but in fact there is no way to prevent that move. I would say that driving away the knight on b4 a couple moves previous with a3 at some point would be an improvement. White's little Nf3-d4-f3 maneuver doesn't help.
Feb-26-07  Happypuppet: White was thoroughly demolished by a pair of his namesake piece. A punny game just in itself.
Feb-26-07  sfm: _Two_ knights after Mr. Knight - and the game was played after 11 p.m. - so the pun could also have been...

A fight with knight after knight after Knight at night

... but OK, it can be overdone... :-)

An Englishman: Good Evening: <sfm>, give yourself more credit than that--I think your wordplay is excellent.
Feb-26-07  ARK84: haha I like the pun
Feb-26-07  HLecter: I think i would prefer 15. a3 for white, followed by 16. Nf3. Seems like this would have hindered the black knights teamwork.
Feb-26-07  Ashram64: <Happypuppet: White was thoroughly demolished by a pair of his namesake piece. A punny game just in itself.>

I bet you waited a long time to use the vocabulary "namesake" ;)

Feb-26-07  Jack Kerouac: Say good knight, Gracie.
Feb-26-07  cyclemath: Who are the nice ol men in the title?
Feb-26-07  kevin86: Knight was horse-whipped and horse collared by his opponent. The knights act like bees to chase away the white queen and the black queen acts like a vulture to pick off the white rook.
Feb-26-07  Chessmensch: Is it that white couldn't see this coming after 20...Qe7 or just that he couldn't do anything about it? Wouldn't white be somewhat better off if he took the rook with the queen (gets some compensation for his rook)? Or am I missing something as a relatively new player?

playground player: If at first you don't succeed... You'd think White, having stopped it once, would have somehow found a way to prevent that discovered attack on the Rook.
Feb-26-07  Happypuppet: <Ashram64> Actually, I'm around that word all the time since I participate in quiz bowl competitions.
Feb-26-07  Duque Roquero: The prettiest mate is the quickest. In my opinion 18. Ne5+? (mate in 5) is an inaccurate awkward move. Obviously 18. Nxh8 (mate in 4) is the correct way to play and, for that reason, a much more beautiful move than the text one.
Feb-26-07  Duque Roquero: Excuse me, this last comment belongs to another game (The Wolf at the Dore). Im a new kid in town. Sorry friends.
Jul-10-10  Whitehat1963: Excellent game from the Player of the Day.
Jul-15-22  Messiah: Sick game, really enjoyed it.
