Domdaniel: No kibitzing, eh? There is now.

7.Qg4 Nf6 8.Qxg7 Rg8 9.Qh6 is the Nickel-Arsenic Possibly Poisoned Pawn Variation.

Jun-23-18  Delboy: Great finish with 28. ... Bxg3+. Nice also that black went for the clinical mate with 30. ... Nc4+ rather than the prosaic knight fork 30. ... Ne4+
Mar-28-25  King.Arthur.Brazil: One possible idea is: 28...Bxg3+ 29. Qxg3 Re8+(30. Ne2 Rxe2#) 30. Kf2 Ne4+ 31. Kg2 Nxg3 or 30. Kd2 Ne4+ 31. Kc1 Nxg3...
Mar-28-25  mikealando: What a satisfying finish
Mar-28-25  mel gibson: The first few plies were easy.

Stockfish 17 says:

28. .. Bxg3+

(28. .. Bxg3+ (1. ... Bxg3+ 2.Qxg3 Re8+ 3.Kd2 Ne4+ 4.Kc1 Nxg3 5.Kxb2 Nxf1 6.Rxf1 Re4 7.Rd1 Ka8 8.c4 bxc3+ 9.Kxc3 h5 10.Rf1 Kb7 11.Rf5 Re3+ 12.Kc4 Rxb3 13.axb3 h4 14.Rf3 Qh6 ) +7.34/40 321)

score for Black +7.34 depth 40.

scormus: Hmmmm, I was expecting something a bit more challenging than that on a Friday.

I couldn't at first understand why 30 ... Nc4+ (instead of ... Ne4+ <mel/SF>) After 31 Kc1? W loses spectacularly. However, after the only alternative, 31 Kd3, B can repeat with ... Nb2+ 33 Kd2 Ne4+. So perhaps B was finessing with 30 ... Nc4+, to open the door to a possible quick mate.

Teyss: Agree with <scormus>, not very difficult for a Friday as all moves are forced.

29.Qxg3: else 29...Bxg3.
30.Kf2 Ne4+ wins the WQ or 30.Ne2?? Rxe2#

Actually on 30.Kd2 Black should have answered Ne4+ winning the WQ but apparently he wanted to see if he could reach mate: nothing is lost after 30...Nc4+ since if White answers 31.Kd3, Black can still reach the same ending with Nb2+ 32.Kd2 Ne4+.

White played 31.Kc1? maybe because he didn't see the superb Queen sac 32...Qxf4+! or thought it would be prettier to let the mate unfold instead of resigning in a losing position: following mel's line we have 2Ns vs Q+2Ps after White's 33rd.

  al wazir: After the obvious 28...Bxg3+ 29. Qxg3 Re8+ 30. Kd2, I went with 30...Ne4+ 31. Kc1 Nxg3 32. Rg1 Nc4. Now if 33. Rxg3, then Re1#.

Black has a ♕ for a ♖.
