Feb-08-05 | | InspiredByMorphy: 12. ...d6 would have freed blacks bishop giving a better game than 12. ...c6 did. Nice queen trap by Greco. That knight bobbed and weaved. |
Feb-08-05 | | Backward Development: If i was on the black side, I probably would have been wondering, "hmm...where's that knight going?" then, tada! |
Aug-14-05 | | SEMENELIN: NN should have realized that he/she had a bad opening for the queen. I think this rule apply to all pieces. For example a knight or a bishop or a torre. |
Aug-14-05 | | sharpnova: is a torre means tower.. by which you really mean rook? |
Aug-15-05 | | SEMENELIN: <sharpnova> korekek!!! |
Aug-15-05 | | IT4LICO: "Torre" is the italian word for "rook"... |
Aug-15-05 | | Achilles: this was really bad I seen many old games compared to the modern games more accurate precisely!!! |

Oct-20-05 | | DeepBlade: Well black has many ''holes'' in its pawn structure, and its basic to move the Knight to pawnholes. But it takes a lot of brain to figure out a Knight tour to f5, especially with the beginner rule; don't move the same piece all the time. If you look at the position after the 14th move, Black's position makes me cry, 2 Knights on the rim, a bad Bishop, the Rook on f8 sleeping, and a cornered King. Im not talking about its pawn structure because its a disaster. The center is dominated by White, and Black tries a hopeless attack. Greco finishes with a funny Knight tour, and the Queen has no place to go. |

 | | al wazir: It's hard to believe this wasn't a composed game. As late as move 14 black had winning chances: 14...Ng3! If 15. hxg3 then 15...fxg3, with mate or loss of the ♕ (the *white* ♕!) to follow. |
Jun-29-06
 | | al wazir: To elaborate on my previous comment: After 14...Ng3 15. hxg3 (if 15. Nxf7+ then 15...Kg7, postponing the inevitable) fxg3 16. Qh5 Qxh5 is the only way white can avoid mate. If white moves his ♕ rather than taking the ♘, e.g. 15. Qf3, then 15...Nxf1, and black is an exchange up. |
Jun-30-06 | | Cyphelium: <al wazir> I think white gets good compensation for the exchange after 14.- ♘g3 15. ♕e1 ♘xf1 16. ♕xh4 gxh4 17. ♗xf4. |
Apr-20-17 | | Yigor: It's similar to 2 previous #26-27 games/compositions. Here NN makes an other inaccuracy 5...Nf6?! The immediate 6. e5! seems to be better than 6. d4 chosen by Greco. |
Nov-08-18 | | ForteX8: Ng3 15. Qf3 and white's threatening Nf5 and hxg3 fxg3 Qf6+ Kg8 Bxf7+ |

 | | Honza Cervenka: <al wazir><As late as move 14 black had winning chances: 14...Ng3!> After 15.Qe1 Nxf1 16.Qxh4 gxh4 17.Bxf4 black is totally paralysed. Not only the Knight on f1 is lost but white threatens with Bh6 (this can follow after 17...Nxh2, though there is nothing wrong with 18.Kxh2, and black pieces on the QS are useless. White gets material back with great surplus quite easily, for example 17...b5 18.Bb3 Na6 19.Rxf1 Bc7 20.Bh6 Bxd6 21.exd6 Bb7 22.Ne5 c5 23. Bxf8 Rxf8 24.Nxd7 Rd8 25.Nxc5 Nxc5 26.dxc5 etc. |

 | | Honza Cervenka: 14.g3 fxg3 15.Bxg5 gxh2+ 16.Qxh2 Qg4+ 17.Qg2 was also sufficient for win. |
