   Aug-27-17 D Byrne vs Fischer, 1956 (replies)

sharpnova: @john barleycorn Logged in just to say that I think that's the worst idea I've ever heard.

Jun-11-15 Fischer vs Petrosian, 1959 (replies)

sharpnova: Lol. I think the average adult male human, learning the game then training for one week, could beat the best computer in the 70's.

Mar-06-15 Spassky vs Fischer, 1960 (replies)

sharpnova: <M. Shaune> Your logic is airtight. You proved that Kasparov in his prime was inferior to Fischer in his prime by showing by comparisons that Kasparov long before his prime couldn't beat Fischer in his prime. Do you teach? I'd like to sign up for your class. How about that

   Feb-02-15 I Ivanov vs V Zaltsman, 1983 (replies)

sharpnova: <aw1988> It absolutely was not in poor taste. <Maroczy>'s unnecessarily sobering reply was what was in poor taste. A tactless comment that took your lighthearted joke which was more a celebration of this guy's life and turned it into a grim remark on his untimely ...

Jan-30-15 Short vs Shirov, 2002 (replies)

sharpnova: <Refutor> First off it would be refuter. not refutor. Secondly, how can you say there isn't enough compensation? One knight for: -two pawns -king off balance and can't castle easily and even then it's a manual castle -strong center -open diagonals for bishop vs ...

   Jan-24-15 Onischuk vs G Vescovi, 2002 (replies)

sharpnova: <MostlyAverageJoe> 15..h6 was the mistake. It was not part of opening theory and isn't in any database other than being listed for the two games in which it was played, mistakenly. Once by Vescovi, who was punished by Oniscuk's brilliant, correct, and winning reply. And ...

   Jan-24-15 Stany vs B Adhiban, 2012

sharpnova: A rarity in that the Marshall Attack is played correctly, eschewing established theory which would suggest moves other than 15. Qe2. But 20. Bxd5 was an inaccuracy. Maybe even a mistake as 20. a4 is a difficult but provable win and 20. Bxd5 is most likely a draw.

Dec-14-14 Kasparov vs Topalov, 1999 (replies)

sharpnova: @Sally Simpson You sound like a religious nut. I think this conversation is past any possibility of being constructive. If you hate statistics then get gone because it's far more relevant to this issue than you have any idea of.

   Oct-29-14 F B Arnold vs M L Hanauer, 1936 (replies)

sharpnova: @Zaius - How so? I've seen people mated or at least really decisively punished for taking as little as a pawn. Taking a whole queen for mate is less greedy than that.

   Oct-26-14 I Krush vs J Estrada Nieto, 2001

sharpnova: an elegant and instructive kingside attack
