Nov-24-06  YouRang: I wonder why the result is 0-1? This endgame should be a draw.

Phony Benoni: Probably not a time forfeit.

While the position is drawn, it isn't completely dead. For instance, if Black plays 56...Ra2+, White must play 57.Kg1 to draw; any other move loses.

Nov-24-06  jamaicanNM: white should lose endgame after Rf5+ Rxf5 kxf5

Phony Benoni: <jamaicanNM> If you're talking about the final position, I don't think so. After 56...Rf5+ 57.Rxf5 Kxf5, White just plays 58.Kf3 or 58.Kg3 and draws easily.
Dec-17-13  thomastonk: This game ended drawn. Source: Kieseritzky's "Cinquante parties jouées au Cercle des Échecs et au Café de la Régence", Paris 1846, p 34-35. Correction submitted.
