Nov-13-06		YouRang: Took me a little longer than usual for a Monday - probably because it wasn't the usual queen or rook sac tactic. Very nice puzzle, requiring one to use the whole board, not just the corner surrounding the king. And it's not often that you see a long range mate so early in a game.

Nov-13-06		kbaumen: Bxf7+ was obvious, but it took me a little bit more time (30 sec) to find Qb3#. Of course after Kh8 it's lost for black also. In my opinion - typical Monday puzzle.

Nov-13-06		alphee: A nice and elegant one. The possibility of doubling attacking pieces provided the solution as white could not do much on the a2-f8 diagonal.

Nov-13-06		playground player: I knew it was a kind of Boden's mate, only with the Queen instead of the Bishop (which I knew had to be sacrificed)--and yet I couldn't find it! Aaaugh! Missed a Monday puzzle! Guess Qb3 was just too obvious for me to see. That kind of omission must tell us something about the human mind--like,it doesn't always work like it's supposed to.

Nov-13-06		Bob726: I got this easy Monday puzzle but at first i considered qb3 immidetaly but then realized that Bxf7+ was better beacuse it wins a pawn and the exchange instead of just the exchange with Rf8 Bxf8 Qxf8.

Nov-13-06		Agent Bouncy: After reading that one person saw the mate in 30 seconds and another person saw it in 45 seconds, I was annoyed for 4 seconds and then laughed for 7 seconds.

May-03-10		JimmyVermeer: Laszlo Polgar's book gives the first player's name as Zhulkov instead of Chulkov, and he also transposes White's 2nd and 3rd moves. Anyone know which is correct?
