Fusilli: Hard to see around move 30 that the black bishop will end up being so, so, so much better than the white bishop.
Jan-13-25  Mark Vincent: I'm not much of a player, but I don't understand what White was trying to accomplish with the bishop maneuver Bb6-a5-b4-d2, starting on move 31. Seems like he could have kept the bishop at e3, instead of tying himself in knots. Meanwhile (in the final position) Larsen's bishop on c7 and king on c6 prevent rook incursions on the b- and d-files, threatening Bd8-a4.

Thanks for posting this, <Fusilli>!

Jan-14-25  FM David H. Levin: Hi, <Mark Vincent>. It seems to me that White's bishop maneuver was intended to pave the way for the c-pawn's advance, but as you note, this did not pan out.

Also, I find 29. a4 suspect. Although this brought about a passed pawn, it didn't get far, and White was saddled with an additional pawn island. The series of moves starting with 29. a4 gives me the impression that White was trying too hard to win.
