Sep-06-05  Autoreparaturwerkbau: I really enjoy the black's play after 14...Nxf2!. Lasker was without any doubt extra-class in late 19th Century.
Jan-14-06  aw1988: Notes by Pillsbury.
Oct-22-06  MrMelad: Pillsbury writes that 14..Nxf2 is flawed because of 16. Be2, but the way I see it the flawed move is 15..Rxe3, if instead Lasker would have played 15..Bxe3 he still wins or at least he is securing a draw.

my variation:

15..Bxe3 Rc2 ..d4 and wins
or if 15..Bxe3 Qf1 - then either ..d4 or ..Bxf3 should at least equalize.

So 14..Nxf2 is still brilliant according to my amateur skills...

Now is the time you tell me why I'm wrong.

I don't think you are wrong, and more importantly neither does Shredder or Soltis. After 15....Bxe3 at a minimum Black is getting two pawns and a rook for two pieces, so he shouldn't be losing.

On the other hand I don't see how White is losing after 15....Bxe3 16. Rc2 d4. Soltis writes that Black has a small edge after 17. Be1 Ne5 and also after (instead of 16. Rc2) 16. Qf1 Bxf3 17. gxf3 Bxc1 18. Qxc1 d4.

Jul-24-09  Knight13: 13. Bc3 is the biggest mistake. Surely White wanted to place the bishop on a better square, but couldn't he see that ...Ne4 threatens to screw up that bishop?
Nov-20-10  xombie: I suppose it would be presumptuous to post one's own game here but it's good to see GM emulation at patzer level! Here's perhaps my imitation of the Lasker game.

  Honza Cervenka: After 16.Be2 Bxf3 17.Bxf3 Ne5 18.Rcc2 Nd3 I see no significant advantage of white. For example, 19.Nf5 Nxf2 20.Rxf2 Rxc3 21.bxc3 Bxf2 22.Kxf2 Qf6 gives black a Rook and two Pawns for two minor pieces.
