Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-27-03  AgentRgent: I guess nobody ever told Zukertort that when your opponent has gambited 2 pawns, you need to exchange material! (10...Bxc3 or 14...Nxf4)
Aug-27-03  myratingstinks: I agree Agent. Reminds me of some of the many mistakes I make against better opponents. I have heard it said that you should never exchange for the sake of exchange. This is definitely a case when exchange was a very good move.
Aug-27-03  chessamateur: Zukerfort must of missed a draw somewhere it looks like a drawn endgame. He could of probably set up a fortress or something. You know where the king cannot pass to support the queen whos attacking because the other player's (zukerfort's) rook is preventing the other guy's (Anderssen's) King from passing to the other side of the board.
Aug-02-04  Knight13: I wonder how this ends.
Nov-02-06  hidude: yes me too

keypusher: 59...Nc4 60. Qd5+ followed by KxR; 59...Re4 Qd5+; on other moves White just takes the knight.
Feb-09-07  venk98: so what if knight goes? rook vs. queen in the endgame WILL lead to a draw if played properly.., why does Zukertort resign?

Benzol: The endgame of K + Q vs K + R should be a win for the stronger side if played properly.
