663_Interception / Interference (+deflection)
Compiled by whiteshark
--*--

These are games in which the rare and beautiful <Novotny> theme, the sacrifice of a piece at the intersection of two lines (e.g. a rank or file, and a diagonal), with the result that one of the opponent's defensive lines is blocked, often resulting in an immediate win for the player playing the Novotny move. (fm FSR)

Nowotny interference occurs when a piece cuts off a line of communication of another and causes a defense weakness (fm avidfan)
