The 44th Hastings Christmas Chess Festival was held December 28th - January 8th. The field expanded this year and twelve grandmasters and masters were invited to compete in a round robin format at the premier event.   FSR: I'd never heard of Daniel Wright, but he must have been a pretty solid player, drawing Smyslov, Gligoric, and Tukmakov. His draw as Black against Gligoric in the last round kept Gligoric from tying for first.
