This was the start of the 8th Niemeyer international junior tournament, also named European Junior Cup. Swiss, seven rounds in nine days, starting on Monday 22 December (84 games). Rest days 25 & 28 December. The top 10 players qualified for the A-final: Niemeyer Juniors (1969/70).
