Sunway Sitges Open (2014)

The first Sunway Sitges Open (Group A) was a 55-player 9-round Swiss tournament held at the Sunway Playa Golf Hotel & Spa in Sitges (near Barcelona), Spain, 14-21 December 2014, with a double round on 14 December. The event was organized by the venue hotel and the Casino Prado Chess Club. Time control: 90 minutes for the whole game, with 30 seconds added per move from move 1. Prize fund: 10,350 euros, with 2,000 euros + trophy to the winner. Rounds 1 & 9 started at 10 am, Rounds 2-8 at 5 pm local time. Tournament director: Francesc Gonzalez Alonso. Chief arbiter: Jordi Chalmeta Ugas. Number of games played: 242 (of which 125 were made available).

Vladimir Baklan won with 7/9, ahead of four players with 6.5/9.
