I'm sure Chuky feels some degree of empathy for Moro. I hope we see Moro again....

moro isn't even the highest rated player born in 1977 anymore, and the others listed above him are neither the brightest stars born in 1982, 1985, 1987 and so on. at least not judging by what we've seen so far. moro's highest live rating was 2798,9 in late august 2008. now, 1,5 years later, he's down to 2694,4 - more than a hundred points less. |

 | | Troller: Yes, it would be more surprising if Moro came here and blasted the field away, he has hardly played any chess for more than a year I think. With his high-risk style, lack of serious practice is bound to reflect on the results. I'm sure Moro has some top performances left in him, should he wish again to pursue his career actively. Congrats to Gashimov & Vallejo both; the former was top-rated Azeri and in top-10 a couple of years ago I think, but has faded a little since then. Nice comeback for him. As for Vallejo, he is greatly talented and has great team event performances, but has not been too succesful in top-level tournaments. Even if this was not Tal Memorial or Dortmund, it was a pretty strong event. Also my respects to the organizers, despite the difficulties with relay. The field was much more interesting than many a "super-tournament" IMO. |

previously he's played games in 7 of the rating periods since july 2008, and he's lost rating points in each and every one of them. this is the 8th rating period since his top rating of july 2008, and now he's about to lose 6 more points, assuming he doesn't play more until march 1st. 2,5 years where he exclusively has <lost> points sounds like a bit more than a run of bad form. even ivanchuk's long streaks of good form/bad form seldom last more than 6 months. :o) |

Overall the comparison between Moro and Chuky might have to stop within the discussion of creative genius, and the similarity they seem to share in singular vision, respectively. As Chuky plays nearly non- stop , and Moro seems to nearly shun the thought of Chess as profession. There is a reasonble inroad to Mr. Moros free -fall, as well as a hint at the disparody in comparing these two beyond the fact that they both seem to be rather unique and brilliant at the board. Aside from there, I was super intrigued by Godenas use of the clock , I could not understand it. More because of the successive rounds in which it happened, than that it happened at all. And I thought Onischuk played a great tourney |
