TOMCZAK, Mikolaj

_

Feb-25-17  waustad: After 7 rounds he's leading the Graz Open with 6/7 points. His performance rating is well over what would be needed for a GM norm so far and he's already played 4 GMs. http://chess-results.com/tnr234406....
Feb-25-17  TheFocus: I really hope no one calls this guy Tom Cat.

Oops.

Feb-25-17  waustad: He drew with Evgeny Postny in round 8. There are players who have become GMs with no earlier IM title, Larry Mark Christiansen comes to mind. Perhaps we'll see another one soon.
Feb-25-17  waustad: My rough guess of his tpr, even if he loses to Evgeny Romanov tomorrow is that it will be a GM norm. Sometimes teenagers get a lot better fast.
Feb-26-17  waustad: With his final round draw he went +2 =4 -0 against the GMs and came in first on tiebreaks. There now seem to be several young Polish players showing a lot of progress.
