Apr-10-09 | | Travis Bickle: <TheAlchemist> Thanks Professor!! |
|
Apr-11-09 | | Travis Bickle: <TheAlchemist> Professor you have any tunes you want to lay down on my forum? I just did about 6 Lennon songs. |
|
Apr-12-09 | | kurtrichards: Professor <The Alchemist>,hello! Just dropping by to see (hope you don't mind) what you and <Travis Bickle> has in store for us music lovers. It would seem that Travis wants to limit his entry to five songs only per day and you seemed to agree too. Well, it's okay with me... Just this morning Travis entered six song (I thought you want it five only) - all John Lennon's classic. He is asking you for any tunes to lay down in his forum. My,oh my! I wonder if the good Professor could include 'Wrapped Around My Finger' by The Police as one? Thanks! |

 | | TheAlchemist: <kurtrichards> Unfortunately all the videos I could find are poor quality as they seem to have been shot on cellphones. If you don't mind, I'll post another Police video instead. |

Apr-12-09 | | kurtrichards: <The Alchemist> it's okay with me. Happy Easter Sunday! |

 | | TheAlchemist: <arsen387> Thanks! I have his legendary physics lectures in pdf format as well, but I haven't looked them up in detail just yet, maybe someday... (I always say that :-)) Anyway, I'll post some brief analysis as soon as I can, for now I mostly have serious doubts about 17...e5, maybe there was better than 20...Be7 as well (I'll have to check if 20...b4 is possible), and I'm not sure where I could have deviated to avoid sacrificing the exchange, but maybe it was unavoidable. Also, 28...Qxh2 as you also mentioned instead of 28...Rc8 might be an alternative (the more I look at it, the less I know why I played it). However, the final nail in my coffin was surely 34...Qc2 and 35...Qc6? (I didn't even consider anything else), I thought the queen trade would alleviate some pressure, but in fact I didn't look far enough ahead, I missed the simple 39.Ra1 and the b-pawn will really give me trouble, my king is far away from it, the knight is awkwardly placed on c8, it was kind of a depressing final position :-) Anyway, once again, you played really well and congratulations! |
|
Apr-14-09 | | arsen387: thanks, Uros. During the game when I played 34.Rd4, I was expecting e3+ 35.Kxe3 Qxf1 and seems like whites have nothing better than draw by perpetual. I was heading towards that, Qc2+ was kinda surprise for me |

May-06-09 | | meloncio: Hi Alchemist. Here's a nice Andalusian song, plenty of Arabian sounds and pretty girls. :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jmZ...
It has a few years (2002?) but I still like to listen it now and then. Enjoy! |

 | | TheAlchemist: <meloncio> Thanks! Well, since they're from Cadiz, it's only natural they have Arabian influences :-). I was exploring various "oriental" music a while ago, but somehow I still found it a bit strange, I guess it takes time to get the ear accustomed to different harmonies, scales, etc. I don't know if I told you last time, I have really liked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mD7I... you posted and have added it to my playlist, I probably won't do the same here, but who knows. |

 | | TheAlchemist: <valiant> Sure, my forum has been a ghost town recently, so I guess we can use it. Also, our entry has been compared to the Norwegian one, since it includes violins as well. I'm not particulary fond of it, though I predicted it would win, as the other songs were even worse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_VX... |

 | | valiant: Apropå Slovenien och den internationella melodifestivalen - Darja Svajger, an icon for sure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVRz... Besides, on Sunday the Giro will touch Slovene soil (almost)
"Local hero: The last half of the stage runs along the corridor of Italian territory that looks back over Venice. Bordering Slovenia is a growing cycling power, and support for Slovenes Janez Brajkovic and Tadej Valjavec will be very apparent." www.cyclingnews |

 | | TheAlchemist: <valiant> Yes, that was a great song, probably the second best we've sent (behind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PH89..., which is by far the most popular). Regarding the Giro, I think it went through Slovenia a few times already, one time very close to where I live (I didn't watch it, because I was away at the time). About the riders you mentioned, Brajkovic and Valjavec, I don't think they will do exceptionally well this year, Valjavec (he was 9th in 2004) is in bad form, he will be the team captain, but his team (Ag2r) is weak. Brajkovic on the other hand, will only be one of the "supporting cast" in Astana, so I don't think he will be allowed anything special. |

 | | valiant: <which is by far the most popular> I can understand that, a wonderful song. Thanks! In -79 my family went on a holiday-trip by Volvo and a rather big caravan via Munich - Saltzburg - Klagenfurt and a very steep uphill road to the Slovenian customs station, where our car collapsed and people had to help us to push the equipage over the top ... |

Jun-01-09 | | technical draw: I saw your post <Alchemist> on Travis' forum. Here's a cool version of "Gloomy Sunday" by young talented Japanese artist Saori Yano: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1bw... |
|
Jun-02-09 | | kurtrichards: <TheAlchemist> That "Gloomy Sunday" known to others as "The Hungarian Suicide Song" or "Suicide Anthem" sounded like ahhh... Scary? Do not listen to it when you are alone. There is something creeping at your back as if ahhh... scary really. Just like in some Hollywood horror movies. All the others featured jazz music is really great. Classic. Refined. Here is one for you - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTbS... The song is Mountain Dance by Dave Grusin (piano), Lee Retinour (guitar), Abraham Laboriel (bass), and Carlos Vega (drums) |
