WannaBe: Well, I am very tempted to compare LOL@OKC to some certain military operation in late 1800s in some U.S. territory with some certain General. But, holy cow. That/game is about ugly as it can get.

WannaBe: <CIO> LOL. I remember those mems... <chancho> North by Norwest, totally agree, the audiences know that the plane scene was filmed earlier and played on a screen behind. It was still drama. Same thing with the Mt. Rushmore chase scene.

WannaBe: ¡Olé! ¡Olé! this is what I see for "¡Olé! ¡Olé!" (game of the day Mar-13-2026) I also know this issue have been around for a while, and it's not that important, in IT term, it is a level 'C', cosmetic fix. But I just wish to report it again. Can CG.com unify this ...

WannaBe: <FSR> March 11 is his birthday, and usually PoD is chosen from the birth date of the player. So unless CG.com decides to change the algorithm on how PoD is decided. We will randomly get "undesired" player(s).

WannaBe: I'm now 3/6, gonna try to get 4 pts for this 7 round tournament.

Currently, <DrDum>, <tpstar>, <phoenix>, and <you vs yourself> are all still playing their round 6 game.

<phoenix> and Emory Tate are locked in a titanic struggle!

WannaBe: Fun tournament!! What an horrible start I had, .5 after 3 games, and still be able (lucky) to finish 3.5/7

I found, that playing corrsp. games online, with the 'analyze the board' option have spoiled me, because I can't do 'practice' moves OTB.

Will post a link to all the pictures once I get them organized!!

May-29-07  chesstoplay: Nice finish to the Chicago Open for you.

You ended up undefeated in 5 out of 7 rounds!!

And you clearly had one of the prettiest opponents.

You might send that photo in for Chess Life to use if you can get a parent's OK.

The USCF does a Chess Life for Kids that publishes that kind of photo all the time... especially if you write a short article to go with it... so they do not have to do any work... on how many youth players participated, et cetera.

Jerry Nash is the Scholastics Director and a friend of mine. If you choose to do an article, let me know and I'll push it for you.

Looking forward to the photos link.

Hope your night at the Cubs game is great.

Your friend in chess,

Peter / chesstoplay

May-29-07  pipesharp: Hey Wannabe, Hope you have a good time at the Cubs game!! Get a hot dog and a beer at the game. It was great meeting you and "you vs yourself". You can tell everbody you met the guy who wrote the rule book! (Tim Just) Best regards,

WannaBe: To everyone I met in Chicago, thank you for being a wonderful host! It was my first time at Wrigley Field, and what a nice stadium it is.

Again, it was great meeting all the people, and a fun time in Chicago.

May-30-07  brankat: <Wannabe> Congrats on a fine score in Chicago. Especially the last 4 rounds, 3 point out of 4 games!

You've made a good point about the potentially adverse effect of correspondence Chess on the OTB games.

That's why I've cut down drastically on my own corresp. activity.

We'll talk again buddy. Take care.

May-30-07  ahmadov: Hey, are you Japanese or Chinese???
May-30-07  Robin01: <WannaBe>Good tournament! Any time someone can raise their rating, I consider it a good tournament. Congratulations on your new higher rating.
May-30-07  NakoSonorense: Congratulations on your excellent performance! Great pictures, too!
May-30-07  suenteus po 147: <WannaBe> Thanks for sharing your photographs with all of us! And congratulations on your amazing second half comeback. Another year or two and you'll be the next Topalov! Speaking of which, are you looking for a diabolical manager to promote your world championship bid? >;)
May-30-07  NakoSonorense: You forgot to upload youvsyourself picture. Or is he camera shy?
May-30-07  suenteus po 147: <NakoSonorense> Maybe he took all the pictures?
May-30-07  you vs yourself: <NakoSonorense> I told him not to. I'll upload my pic when I get my first win against a master strength player and get a game page here.

WannaBe: <ahmadov: Hey, are you Japanese or Chinese???>

I am Chinese, originally born in Taiwan, I've been in the states now 26 years. Came over when I was about 9 yrs old.

May-30-07  Zebra: <You've made a good point about the potentially adverse effect of correspondence Chess on the OTB games.>

I think it has certainly had a bad effect on my otb chess. If I play otb again next season I will probably take a little break from Gameknot.

May-30-07  whiteshark: 26+9 is out of range of my calculation capacity; I like the t-shirt on the pics - will you sell it on ebay ??
