Sep-04-16  pinoymaster77: WIM Frayna continues to be shining light as solid anchor for PHI Womens team, with draws vs World # 4 GM Nana and Grand Prix champ GM Danika ! 2 more WGM opponents and she will meet the minimum requirement for the opposition for a WGM norm, aside from scoring the needed points

Sa rd3, Vietnam naka draw vs powerhouse China. 2nd seed Ukraine beat USA. PHI at 40th place, close lang sa 40th ranking

37th ranked ang Canada and match lang, may beauties din daw. Checkout pic of Ms. Botez

Sep-05-16  pinoymaster77: All WIM line-up ang 64th ranked Algeria pero mababa mga ELO indicating not too much tournament play? Kaya ng Womens ulit Manalo

http://www.chess-results.com/tnr232...

Sep-06-16  pinoymaster77: Winning na WIM Frayna, pabalagbag depensa ni WIM Latreche with f5, queenless na kalaban for 2 pieces.

WFM Shania lamang with black, WIM Secopito building up advantage while WIM Fronda's game turning in her favor. Puede pang maka sweep ah

Sep-06-16  pinoymaster77: Hebigats, congrats to the Womens team for the SHUTOUT win vs Algeria !

Good confidence going into the rest day, bukas na silip sino kalaban

Sep-07-16  pinoymaster77: Nice article before plunging into action ulit mamaya !

Sep-07-16  pinoymaster77: "A moment in history for Philippine chess.

Many of the top Filipino grandmasters have gone abroad to seek greener pastures, the most striking example of which is Wesley So, currently the world’s no. 7 now playing for the United States. Everybody is saying that Philippine chess is dead. Now we know that Philippine chess is NOT dead -- we have just been looking in the wrong direction. Our women players are the new heroes."

Sep-10-16  Amulet: Janelle has the nerve of steel, a fighter. She's got`balls' and make use of them effectively.

Which unfortunately,.....her male counterparts fail to capitalize on.

Sep-10-16  epistle: Lucky that it's not the nerve of steal
Sep-10-16  gokusano: But tell me, how the "male counterparts" can capitalize on Janelle's nerve of steel?
Sep-11-16  Pru: Congrats Janelle, may WGM norm na based on 9 games played.

https://www.fide.com/fide/handbook....

Sep-11-16  pinoymaster77: Kung WGM norm sa Olympiad eh double norm nga ba? But before that she already got 2 WGM norms, tama ba?

Plus she already reached 2300 ELO before.

So unofficially pa muna, PHI finally got its FIRST EVER WGM !!

Sep-11-16  epistle: <But tell me, how the "male counterparts" can capitalize on Janelle's nerve of steel?>

What he meant probably is to have the nerve to steal. He has experience on that.

Congrats to Frayna, the new Rayna of Philippine chess, replacing Mila Emperado.

Sep-12-16  pinoymaster77: Arianne Caoili and Girme Fontanilla had their short reigns

I agree that WIMs Fronda and Secopito can follow suit as WGMs and WIM Camacho if she decides to return

Then batch nila WFMs Shania Revita n SanDiego

Susunod malalakas din Doroy Mordido BeaMendoza n Derotas

Sep-12-16  dunamisvpm: Congrats and Mabuhay for earning a WGM title! GOD Bless
Sep-12-16  wordfunph: congratulations, WGM Frayna!
Sep-12-16  pinoymaster77: This PDI article confirms it, Janelle Mae Frayna is no longer the Princess of Philippine chess, she is now the new 'Rayna' as epistle coins it !

Long may she reign! Looking forward to the GOLDEN ERA in Philippine Women's chess, PHI got a lot of talent and am sure they're taking inspiration from Janelle's feat, and many more would follow in her footsteps.

I-level up lang ng NCFP / PSC ang suporta sa national pool. Looking forward to the plan for a European campaign next year to further strengthen the game of WGM Janelle Mae Frayna!

Sep-12-16  kamagong24: congrats WGM Frayna! now we also have a contender for women's WCC!!!
Sep-12-16  pinoymaster77:
“I’m proud to announce that WIM Janelle Mae Frayna achieved the third and last result to become the first woman grandmaster from the Philippines,” said GM Jayson Gonzales, Frayna’s personal trainer and coach at FEU."

http://www.journal.com.ph/sports/fr...

Sep-12-16  pinoymaster77: Another official reference. If WGM Frayna wins this round 10 eh she gets IM norm pa in this Olympiad which is double norm? Next goals eh IM, GM and WC Candidates !

http://www.chess-results.com/tnr232...

Sep-12-16  Amulet: Congrats Janelle. I guess GM Polgar has already talked to her about the prospect of Janelle getting enrolled in the SPICE program, and to get the chance of getting enrolled in the US college, as part of the SPICE program. Opportunities are beginning to shape up for this young woman.

Congratulations!

Sep-12-16  geniokov: Congratulations WGM Janelle Mae Frayna! At last! We already have a WGM in our country! Kung pwede lang pagsama-samahin ang mga Women chessplayers natin like Caolli and Camacho eh lalong malakas ang Women's team natin. Sana eh tuloy tuloy na ito.
Sep-12-16  Pru: Congrats Janelle, yesterday WGM, today men's IM na. Per chess results, http://chess-results.com/tnr232876....
Sep-12-16  pinoymaster77: Bale for IM title, WGM-Elect Frayna now earned 2 IM norms, bale 1 more IM norm needed and ELO need to reach 2400 ?

Sayans, with WIM Fronda's loss last night, eh the run for WGM norm in this Olympiad ends, but this can still be part of her buildup for WGM norm campaign in her next intl events

Sep-13-16  pinoymaster77: Nasa isa sa fave sports sites ko na spin.ph. Nice pic from around 3 years back, I recall Dari was still here in PHI, sa Asian Chess team event in Tagaytay. We should now have more FIDE events sked here, hopefully starting next year !

Sep-13-16  mayfel: when will be the election in NCFP? we need to change the leadership. we have so many talented players that need exposure.
