May-15-14 | | paavoh: Continuing his success at Poikovsky with 3.5/4 so far. |
May-23-14 | | paavoh: ... and finishing with 0.5/4, unfortunately. Nevertheless, an interesting player for sure. |

Gongrats. |

Aug-12-14 | | cro777: The story of the day.
In the game Saric - Carlsen, the ceremonial first move was made by the Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg ... and the best Croatian grandmaster won. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bu1x0KK... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bu2AIaP... |

Aug-13-14 | | freakclub: Carlsen deserved to lose that game. I think he learned a lesson from that one. Not to fool around with lower-rated GMs. |

 | | Penguincw: Happy 23rd Birthday to GM and rising star Ivan Saric. At the Chess Olympiad (2014), he went a solid +5,-2,=4. His only 2 losses came to the black pieces, so good job! He also beat Carlsen. By my unofficial count, he gained 5.3 rating points to jump to (presumably) a career high 2676. He's getting there! |
Aug-17-14 | | csmath: Pretty very Slavic looking lady. Nice looking couple and obviously fine people. Happy birthday! |
Nov-02-14 | | waustad: Perhaps he'll get more notice soon, since he'll be playing in Tata A this year, according to TWIC. |
Nov-02-14
 | | MissScarlett: Yes, simply beating the world champion is evidently insufficient to garner wide acclaim. I suggest one or more of the following: i)be accused of cheating; ii)be punched to the ground by a lovelorn rival; ii)be told to 'speak normal' and stop smiling. |
Nov-02-14 | | waustad: Earning the spot in Tata A by winning Tata B was an important stepping stone. Another would be reaching 2700 elo. Each of these could help make him better known. After a period of stable 2650ish rating he has added some elo recently, which could help get more high visibility invitations. Those seem to be getting harder to find since many big tournaments are getting smaller. Tata, for example, now only has two groups instead of three. |

 | | WannaBe: Wow, why can't all chess tournament do drawing of the lots that way? Instead of some stupid blitz tournament!!??!! |
Jan-09-15 | | twinlark: Probably that the blitz events provide some pre-game entertainment. |
