   Jul-16-16 Movsesian vs Z Varga, 2005 (replies)

ksadler: This line I like because it is the battle of the passed pawns versus piece play for Black. Even though Black lost, he had many pieces swirling around White's King. Although this line may fail at the GM level it should be fine for most Alekhine players.

   Nov-04-08 G Mahia vs B Larsen, 2008

ksadler: It is extremely interesting that Larsen opens his kingside as quickly as possible in every game. Perhaps he was forced to play in this and didn't want to? Doubtful that he'll get invited back. Or maybe some of his opponents needed GMs in the tournament to get norms or something?

   Nov-04-08 S Fowler vs Short, 2008

ksadler: TheaN is right...that is a gambit that is normally used after Black already moves his d-pawn (see Spielmann vs S Landau, 1933 for a great example!)

   Oct-22-08 J Corzo vs Capablanca, 1901 (replies)

ksadler: I don't understand 34. Nh3. Unless he was trying to blockade the pawn, but 34. Ng4 and then centralizing his knight is a better idea I think.

   Oct-19-08 B G Smith vs Shabalov, 2007 (replies)

ksadler: An unbelievable game! Great confidence by Shabalov to play that long without his queen and his king exposed!

   Jun-02-07 Leko vs Ivanchuk, 2007

ksadler: I agree Ulhumbrus...9. .. a5 seems a little premature. I prefer in this line to work in the middle as well with either 9. .. e5 or 9. .. f5.

   Jun-02-07 Alekhine's Defense, Modern (B04) (replies)

ksadler: What's the big deal? I'd recommend .. e6 here or even .. d5. The thing people have to remember about the fianchetto is that it is a long-term strategy. If the center is closed until about move 20 it is ok! An example is: Ljubojevic vs Alburt, 1990 (a very messy game for both sides).

   Jun-02-07 Alekhine's Defense (B02) (replies)

ksadler: <TheChessExpress> I have one annotated game of 1. e4 Nf6 2. Bc4 b5 here: http://www.geocities.com/alekhine_g...

   Mar-31-07 S Petrosian vs J Degraeve, 2007

ksadler: I find this line difficult to play as Black. I prefer 9. .. e5 or 9. .. f5 to get some more counterplay as Black.

Feb-11-07 Blackburne vs Steinitz, 1883 (replies)

ksadler: An incredible finish by Blackburne! Great game!
