   Jun-10-15 S Neubronner vs So, 2005 (replies)

woody b: i don't think b4 was decisive. yes, it is the mistake that allows the finishing mate, but the position is already hopeless. black controls virtually all the black squares around white's king. so imho giving up the bishop pair with 17. Bxe5 was the blunder.

woody b: I didn't spend too much time with it and went for 17. .. Rxe2 18. Bxg4 Re1+ 19. Kg2 Be4+ 20. Kh3 Nf2+ 21. Kh4 g5+ 22. Kxg5 and now I thought b can win back the q with Ne4! alas, this move is illegal! apart from a few more holes in the line, like the rook hanging on e1 and ...

woody b: @raviarun 20. ..Qg3 21. Bf3 Be5 22. Rf1 ...Qxg5 wins a whole rook (and we're still 2 pawns up), because the Qc5 and Rf1 are hanging. so no need for forcing continuation. but congrats for your line, i didn't even see the continuation after Qg3

woody b: for me far easier than yesterday!

   Jan-29-14 Wilke vs A H Privonitz, 1933 (replies)

woody b: like many of you, i had quite a hard time to find a way to get the rook into play. i saw the fork on e3 soon enough, but it took me long to see that Re3 threatens Rh3 and mate! glad i got it after all

Oct-17-13 Nakamura vs Seirawan, 2012 (replies)
