   May-31-16 Gashimov Memorial (2016) (replies)

jared10001: What's with people pretending So is awesome? He's good but he's just another player, hardly a standout. The two other American Super GMs, Nakamura and Caruana, have both showed much more promise, and like it or not (and coaches or not) Carlsen is still in a league of his own. So ...

   May-01-16 Norway Chess (2016) (replies)

jared10001: Carlsen wins his first-ever Norway Chess event, and my big bet on him paid off. Just came in 2nd place overall for the championship leg of Chessbookie.

jared10001: For those of you who are saying Magnus is the heavy favorite vs Karjakin, you are correct. But it's important to remember that Magnus would be the heavy favorite against anybody in this field, or against any other player. He's simply the best chess player in the world, and by a ...

jared10001: I can't believe it! I actually qualified? Wow! First time ever.

jared10001: While Topalov has been gifted 2 of his 4 wins, his victories over Aronian and MVL were indeed convincing. If he wins this tournament, he should feel proud of himself.

jared10001: Re: Eyal, Kinghunt, If Caruana's worst case really does come to pass, he'll almost certainly still qualify by rating. Nakamura would also have a decent chance of qualifying by rating if he misses the cut. Tomashevsky, Javenko, ect have far more to lose here.

Oct-15-14 FIDE Grand Prix Baku (2014) (replies)

jared10001: So how is the ratings reserve calculated? What are Topalov's chances of being invited to the candidates on ratings, if we assume Caruana is going to finish in the top two of the GP series?

Sep-17-14 Topalov vs Morozevich, 2014 (replies)

jared10001: This is what it was like to see Topalov in his prime. He was this fearless all the time, a decade ago.
