Dec-24-06 K Spraggett vs J Hebert, 1982

hkakos: Why did black resign? Why not 23...Rxg7 24. Rxg7 Nf6 25. ...? Is it because black is down a rook vs. a bishop? What about the white knight at c3? If white doesn't move it, won't black eventually take it? I'm just a beginner. Thank you for everyones help! |

hkakos: I missed yesterday's puzzle, so I tried to find it on the site, but I can't. I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me find it. I'm pretty good at visiting the site every day, but yesterday was a very hectic day for me, and I ended up missing it, and I feel like I'm naked ... |

Aug-24-06 L Giannone vs J W Clarke, 1995
|
hkakos: Since it's white's move, how about Rc4? Doesn't that save the Queen, though white is now down a piece (bishop)? Or move the Queen, and then lose the rook at c3, but still be down a bishop. Is that why white gave up because he will be down a bishop? |

hkakos: <ganstaman: 35...Rg6 36. Qxh7#> Is this possible? Isn't there a black rook at g6? Queen can't capture pawn at h7 because the rook is in the way. |
