Jan-29-10 Carlsen vs Dominguez Perez, 2010
epiclurker: chessmoron: good question. I thought about it and it looks to me like Dominguez might have been worried about 40. Rf1. After that there's a pretty gnarly exposed check with 41. Ng5. But then again, what do i know...Did you come up with anything? |

Aug-08-08 Bacrot vs M Penalver, 2004
Aug-30-07 Rybka vs Ehlvest, 2007
epiclurker: to have a rook pawn missing is hardly traumatic to one's game. i mean the rook is instantly in play and under no real threat....i suppose that here it does impede rybka's king side castling -- but the same can be said for ehlvest's. a sort of false odds game to me. |

Aug-05-07 Taimanov vs V Arseniev, 1960
epiclurker: a fine demonstration that an isolated passed pawn can be dangerous - even in the early middle game. taimanov expertly judges that the exchange on d4 will not be a positional liability and from move 12 he sees to it that his judgement is vindicated |

Jul-17-07 Kramnik vs Y Doornbos, 1999
epiclurker: actually, this game brings to mind magic johnson's 'no-look' passes. kramnik eyes the kingside hard with his queen and bishop while setting up a 'dunk' of the two queenside pawns. i hate sports analogies. |
