   May-26-10 A Matanovic vs J H Donner, 1965 (replies)

andymac: Donner is a legend in many ways. And The King is mandatory reading, IMHO. "A crime against the game of chess" - love it!

Apr-29-10 Anand vs Topalov, 2010 (replies)

andymac: Great match so far, I think. Much more exciting than Anand - Kramnik last time. Three decisive games out of four (and Game 1 and Game 4 particularly have been excellent), is nothing to be sniffed at.

   Apr-26-10 V Vepkhvishvili vs Z Rukhadze, 1965 (replies)

andymac: Yes, comparatively hard for a Monday, I'd say, if not because there are three plausible moves: Qxf7+, Rd8+, Rxg7+. Nice finish, though after Qxf7+. Something tells me this will be a week of 'pins' - two in the first day!

   Feb-13-10 K V Shantharam vs Kaidanov, 1991 (replies)

andymac: Well, I thought 29. Qxf7+ although I'm not sure I saw the full follow-up. Neither did Shantaram, it appears...

   Nov-02-09 E Cuberli vs Y Yu, 2009 (replies)

andymac: 37. Rf3 Qd1 38. Rf1 Qd3 39. Rf3 Qd1 draw 38. Rf1 Qh5 39. e7 Rxe7 at least a draw or better for White?

   Oct-27-09 T Hillarp Persson vs I Sokolov, 2009 (replies)

andymac: 46. ... Nf4! and 54. ... f2+! are lovely moves. One of my favourite GOTD - possibly because it's understated until near the end.

   Oct-05-09 J Gast vs E Bhend, 1987 (replies)

andymac: This one didn't drive me round the Bhend. I was aGast at the ease with which I found Qxh2!

   Sep-29-09 E Safarli vs A Pijpers, 2007

andymac: OK, game; great name. Black's that is, and only in Dutch. If I was called Pijpers I'd probably have stayed in as a kid and played more chess, too...

   Sep-26-09 M Lomineishvili vs N Pogonina, 2009 (replies)

andymac: 28. Nxe7 looks OK, but either way, it's hardly a great game as White plays pitifully. I also just don't get why a 2400+ player would move Rd1... Why not just resign?

   Sep-17-09 Stein vs V Lepeshkin, 1965 (replies)

andymac: I liked 23. Bxf6 as Qxf6 loses to Nh6+ (either Qxh6 and Rf8+ leads to mate, or the Queen is lost), and gxf6 loses the queen to Nh6+. Then I saw 23. Bxf6 Bxf5 which I think is best as without the Nxh6 none of the above works, and White is just a piece down.
