Oct-01-11 Grand Slam Chess Final (2011) (replies)

alekhinist: I don't have any database but let's say that you're right about Ivanchuk not beating Carlsen since 2008. Anand has a poor score against Kasparov but that doesn't mean that Anand is a patzer. And because of that single record, I wouldn't say that Anand is overrated.

   Sep-03-11 Kamsky vs Topalov, 2009

alekhinist: I think saying <totally outplayed> is a bit of an exaggeration. It's a simple blunder. I would say Topalov was outplayed in their rapid game, although I can't say Topalov was totally outplayed.

   Sep-03-11 Gata Kamsky (replies)

alekhinist: Nice win by Gata over Nepo! Yay! Go USA!

alekhinist: <Well, now that we've invented the statistic of "Jobs Saved", the sky's the limit. We saved 10 million jobs (or whatever other number I want to make up).> It was actually an innocent query. I'm just interested in what both sides say about that. Though I have an obvious bias

Jul-31-11 Kramnik vs Nakamura, 2011 (replies)

alekhinist: <Papagambit: Kram was schooled 2day> So if this becomes GOTD, can we use "Kram Schooled?" =)

   Jul-27-11 Wesley So (replies)

alekhinist: Seems to me that Wesley So has hit a plateau. His contemporary Giri, on the other hand, is steadily climbing up the ladder. I wonder what's going on with Wesley...

Jul-24-11 World Team Championship (2011) (replies)

alekhinist: Kamsky is doing well in this tournament and is steadily increasing his rating. The luckless Nakamura on the other hand still can't win a game and is slowly losing rating points. Another win by Kamsky and a loss by Naka and Kamsky will again be the top US player (live rating). I ...

Jul-24-11 Nakamura vs Kramnik, 2011 (replies)

alekhinist: <Strongest Force> I can't say whether Naka still cares about chess or not, but playing world series of poker a week before the tournament certainly doesn't help. Of course if he was just blowing steam after his hard preparation then that's a different story.

May-23-11 Nakamura vs Ponomariov, 2011 (replies)

alekhinist: Despite his loss, Ponomariov still kept his smiling face. I really like his demeanor.

   May-17-11 Ruslan Ponomariov (replies)

alekhinist: I knew that Ponomariov is a strong player, now I like him even more because of his personality.
