Jul-25-12 Wang Hao vs Bacrot, 2012 (replies)
Willace88: You're right! I was looking at it before the knight exchange. Qd5 is quite a move.
Jun-29-12 Gu Xiaobing vs Huang Qian, 2012 (replies)
Willace88: Black's rook was definitely active enough to give him drawing chances going into the endgame, but White could still have easily drawn. 57. h4 aiming to create another passed pawn, was a good idea, but needed preparatory moves to hold on to the rest of his pawns, such as Kf3, c3 ...
   Jun-26-12 Lintchevski vs A Mokshanov, 2012 (replies)
Willace88: Interesting that Lintchevski didn't cash in with 17. Bxc5 Bxc5 18. Ne6 forking Queen and Rook. He foresaw that the threat of the knight coming in to e6 was strong without the fork, and took time to build on his lead in development with 17. Rd1 instead. Good strategic thinking.
Jun-17-12 Kramnik vs Tomashevsky, 2012 (replies)
Willace88: 28. ... Rc6 loses a pawn to 29. Nxe6, undermining black's knight.
   Jun-03-12 P Dudzinski vs Shirov, 2012
Willace88: If white gets greedy with 12. Nxc6 then Rxe1+ 13. Qxe1 Qd7 14. Nd4 Ba6 and white can't defend the d3 pawn because of the discovery after c5 and Bxh2+
   Jan-07-12 D Markin vs D Kanovsky, 2009 (replies)
Willace88: Is 35. ... Rc6 correct?
Apr-28-11 Naiditsch vs Nisipeanu, 2008 (replies)
Willace88: Phoni Benoni's got it! One small point: If 52. Rxg7, then Rg1+ skewering is stronger than f4+.
   Feb-13-11 Hort vs Smyslov, 1987
Willace88: Black may still be able to hold the draw by refraining from commiting to b5, which allows Kd5 after the pawn trade on b5: on 40. Kf5 K37 41. Kg6 Kf8 42. f5, now Black should try ... a5!, similar to Smyslov's line in the game: 43. f6 gxf6 44. Kxf6 a4! 45. Ke5 Ke7. Here, g4 and h4 ...
Dec-08-09 Keres vs Taimanov, 1955 (replies)
Willace88: Keres says 23. ... ♕xc3 is black's best try, as on 24.♖hc1 right away, black has ...♕d2+ 25.♔h1 h3! 26.♖xc7+ ♔b8 27.♖xb7+ ♔a8 28.♗xh3 ♕e3+ 29.♔h2 ♖xh3+. It still looks like black just has a perpetual, though.
