   Feb-19-16 Navara vs So, 2016

VanPoolPlayer: 46.Kg3 ... for the win

   Sep-30-15 H Bernink vs E Hoeksema, 1982 (replies)

VanPoolPlayer: @fish 55 maybe Bernink thought the 8th rank was covered and only looked at the rook moving to the 7th rank? If black K moves to the corner on the revealed check, then it would be mate with c6xb7

   Sep-16-15 O Adu vs Topalov, 2015 (replies)

VanPoolPlayer: Does 31... Nh4 followed by 32...Bf7 kill the white queen (for a N + B)? She was close to being trapped earlier and then moved back to the same square.

   Aug-05-15 J Polgar vs M Yilmaz, 2014 (replies)

VanPoolPlayer: <lost in space> Even though the material is even, I think the more nimble Queen is better than 2 rooks in this position.

   Jun-19-15 V Malakhov vs G Sargissian, 2005 (replies)

VanPoolPlayer: @agb2002. I had never heard the "Knights do not deal well with passed pawns on a and h." It makes sense. I guess this is the corollary to "You do not want your passed pawn on a or h if it is down to just the Kings."

Dec-24-14 L Binet Tapaszto vs M Colon Romero, 1964 (replies)

VanPoolPlayer: I like the way white strengthened the a file before launching the attack. Both players had a knight leading the defense on the a & h files. If black had pushed the h pawn it would have slowed the assault.

   Dec-05-14 D Kononenko vs M Lukyanov, 2004 (replies)

VanPoolPlayer: I could see the first few moves but missed Qxd6+ as some others noted. Over the board I would play these moves with my fallback attack to force a stalemate by repetition if things blew up in my face.

   Aug-07-14 Lagno vs M Etmans, 2004 (replies)

VanPoolPlayer: I like 24...Rb2

   Jun-20-14 P Nikolic vs N Grandelius, 2013 (replies)

VanPoolPlayer: At the end, black has a passed pawn on C that could tie up some white material for a few moves. It also seems that black could have attacked rank 2 with the rooks and tried for a stalemate.

   Jun-14-14 Kotov vs Barcza, 1952

VanPoolPlayer: BOSTER: Thanks. I look at these without a board, but it seems obvious now... when you jump my queen and say check!
