ThirdPawn: Whoops, I meant ‘every move by White* thereafter was near perfect...’.

Jun-21-18 Morphy vs Anderssen, 1858 (replies)

ThirdPawn: AlphaZero's game play reminds me of Paul Morphy's more than anyone else. The pawn gambits, the sacrifices, the advancement of pieces and the exploits are all central themes of both players. And in closed positions, both of these players' game play is lackluster and dull.

   Jun-19-18 Stockfish vs AlphaZero, 2017

ThirdPawn: Stockfish 9 says White has the advantage of +0.5 at 31 depth after move 17...g6. Poor Stockfish, the game lasted another 70 moves.

ThirdPawn: I find this game to be interesting because Alpha's style seems different than its previous games. Almost like it is playing like a typical chess engine of sorts.

ThirdPawn: Hello guys, What are some good YouTube channels that feature top players actually playing and not simple analysis of their moves? Thanks.

Jun-18-18 Anand vs Grischuk, 2018 (replies)

ThirdPawn: <Sally Simpson>I don't think an ex-world chess champion would pull off a Qf8 check and win through fooling his opponent. And I don't think any of the top players would attempt this. If Qf8 had other goals, then you can argue a mishap by Anand. But only the black King is back

ThirdPawn: This probably can be considered as the Game of the Century. Not only did Stockfish not see 21.Bg5!!!, but also failed to see 20.Qg4! Of course, I saw it, but then I saw the f5 fork and stayed away. I guess that is what separates humans from machines now. In the end, Stockfish must

ThirdPawn: Stockfish 9 does not see 47.Rxc5 at 41 depth, but gives the best move for White as 47.a4 and also gives Black a near 2 point advantage. If Rook doesn't take the Black Knight, then there is threat from Black of Re5 along with Nxc3, while allowing the Black Queen to return to the ...

Jun-14-18 Stockfish vs AlphaZero, 2017 (replies)

ThirdPawn: In addition, the three wins that stockfish scored against AlphaZero occurred with it playing with White pieces! And like AlphaZero, stockfish had no losses when it played with White pieces. Surely this can't be an anomaly?

ThirdPawn: <WorstPlayerEver> Looks like I misread Arena's result. It was probably indicating advantage to black, unlike the traditional point of view given in terms of white.
